eyebrow lift (eyebrow ptosis)

The eyes are where we communicate and are often the first thing we notice in each other. We convey emotion, health, and meaning in the eyes. The eyes can betray our age and feelings or express joy and excitement. Given the importance of the eyes in our daily communication and interactions with those around us, it is almost as important for those around us to see our eyes as it is for us to be able to see the world around us. Eyelid lift and eyebrow lift surgery can effectively improve both of these functions. As we age the eyelids may droop or descend, whether it is weakening of the muscle that opens the lids or excess skin that hangs over or both, eyelid and brow ptosis surgery can help rejuvenate the function and appearance of the eyelids and eyebrows helping the restore a more youthful appearance and markedly improved function.

eyebrow lift (eyebrow ptosis)

As we age, our eyebrows tend to sag or fall after years of using them to convey facial expressions. Sometimes, each eyebrow is affected differently and one may fall lower than the other. In some cases, the drooping causes the eyebrows to rest on the lids, making it difficult to lift the eyelids. As with ptosis and dermatochalasis, brow ptosis repair may be covered by insurance if vision is significantly impaired.

Dr. McInnes can resolve this issue by making an incision in the eyebrow, behind the hairline or in the eyelid crease, resulting in minimal scarring.

This may be done in the office or at a surgery center with IV sedation and local anesthetic and is considered an outpatient procedure, so patients are able to return to the comfort of their own home the same day. Most patients are able to return to relatively normal activities within about a week. Sutures are removed around the same time in the office and wearing makeup and contacts may be resumed. Many insurances will cover the costs of this procedure. Dr. McInnes will meet with you for an exam and address your individual situation and discuss the risks and benefits of having surgery to help make the right decision for you. Aesthetic Eye will also pre-authorize any procedures with your insurance company for you if surgery is the right choice for you.
